Who or What is a Virtual Assistant?
A virtual assistant handles the admin pieces of your business so that you don’t have to. An independent virtual assistant works freelance for multiple businesses, so that any money you spend is a tax deduction.
What a Virtual Assistant Does…
I’ve listed just a few things I’ve done as a Virtual Assistant over the years. There’s a lot of ways you can leverage the help a VA can bring to your business, so these are just here to get you started.
- Editing and Proofreading
- Calendar Management
- Bookkeeping
- Email Management
- Research
- File organization
- Task management
- Project management
- Customer service
- Corporate gifting
- SOP and Manual Writing
- File Organization
- Documentation
- Online Office Management
- And more!
About Me
I’m Kathleen, an independent virtual assistant. I provide organizational and creative support for busy entrepreneurs, authors, and industrial business owners. My experience includes everything from Black Friday sales to shipyard tasks.
While you’re here, check out my blog and my works in progress. Writing a novel is a quite an endeavor, but it’s work I truly enjoy doing.
In my spare time, I like to read, knit, and experiment with new recipes in the kitchen. And, of course, curl up with my best friend, office assistant, and all around sanity-keeper, Max (pictured below).

What I Can Do For You
Think of me as your administrative Mary Poppins. One minute you’re overwhelmed and anxious. The next minute, that black hole of an email inbox is sorted and done.
The other thing I can do? I can help you stay on track and on task. Need someone to handle incoming sales leads? I can take care of the initial response.
Need to sort your gifting list? Let me go shopping for you.
Can’t remember who you’ve sent a book pitch to? Let me track your inquiries and responses.

Why You Should Hire Independent VA
You have many options for choosing a virtual assistant these days. From overseas-based businesses to independent business owners, and companies who specialize in “pre-vetted” freelancers, the market is full of choices!
So, why go with an independent VA? Well, you don’t have to deal with anyone except the person you’re going to be working with–me. I don’t have a customer service line. I don’t have an “agent” or an agency. This is a solo venture. This means if you have a problem, then you have one place to go to fix it. No 1-800 number. No call center. No runaround.
It’s just me.
Why Hire Virtual?
You don’t have to pay for office space, desk, computer, health insurance, payroll taxes, or anything else. All you need from me is a W-9. That’s it. Buying hours from me is a tax-deductible business expense. Not an added payroll cost.
And no one wants to pay more in taxes than they need to.
Virtual work also increases your bottom line. It means I can have Armageddon happen in my living room and still work.
Human-First Business
My business is human first. I offer prompt engineering as a service, and I also help build AI-“assistants” upon request, but only where it makes sense for you and your business. AI can make things more affordable, but not always easier!
When you buy hours from me, you are working with me. You aren’t working with Hortense, the AI chatbot.
Hortense has her uses. Don’t get me wrong, but there’s no substitute for a human being.
